About Me
My name is Charlotte O’Brien. It is scientifically proven that the human brain continues developing until the age of twenty. I have been a proud student of Kihei Charter School since the 5th grade. According to this logic, Kihei Charter has housed and raised my growing mind for 40% of my life as a child, teenager, and young adult. This school has nurtured my mind and given it the values of self-direction, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
While I’ve always remained consciously aware of these skills, it wasn’t until my senior year that I learned to hone and appreciate their constant drilling into my brain. At the end of my junior year, I was fortunate enough to be granted a full scholarship to represent the United States Congress and Hawaii as a Junior Ambassador in Germany. I have had the opportunity to personally meet President Bärbel Bas of the German Bundestag and Woodward Clark Prince (Deputy Chief of Mission for the US Embassy in Germany). Speaking to such people, I was able to use the skills which I learned at Kihei Charter to create meaningful and progressive interactions.
As my time in Germany and at Kihei Charter High School comes to an end, I promise to not forget where I learned these qualities.
